About the Course

This is a lecture regarding Expedited Procedures in Civil Cases: A Discussion on the Rules on Expedited Procedures in First Level Courts for Covered Civil Cases with Best Practices on Case Preparation, Pre-Trial, and Written Advocacy. It will involve pertinent provisions of A.M. No. 08-8-7-SC, or the Rules on Expedited Procedures in First Level Courts. For brevity, we will refer to it as the “Expedited Rules.” In this lecture, the following topics will be covered:

(1) Rule and Effectivity

(2) Jurisdiction over the case

(3) Set of procedures that will apply

Lecturer: Darvin, Daniel Nicholas C.

Atty. Darvin obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from Ateneo de Manila University in 2010. he is a partner with Villanueva Tiansay Darvin Law Offices. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), East Asia Branch. He is also a professor at the Ateneo de Manila School of Law, and gives lectures the Rules of Evidence and other remedial laws. Atty. Darvin has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution, having practiced before all court levels, including arbitral proceedings. He has handled disputes involving complex, technical, and novel factual and legal issues, and currently heads the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution practices.
