Short Bio

Ferdinand M. Negre is a commissioner at the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC). He is backed by expertise in law and business as a certified public accountant, intellectual property (IP) law practitioner, and educator. Prior to joining PCC, Commissioner Negre was the dean of the School of Law at Manuel L. Quezon University and the chairperson of the Commercial Law and Intellectual Property Department of the Ateneo Law School. As a practicing lawyer, he was a founding partner of Bengzon-Negre-Untalan Intellectual Property (IP) Attorneys. He served as a member of the Supreme Court Sub-Committee on Special Rules in IP Cases and served as an Examiner for Mercantile Law in the 2014 Bar Examinations. He also served as the president of the Licensing Executives Society Philippines, corporate secretary of the Philippine Franchise Association, and corporate counsel of the Philippine Retailers Association. Concurrently as PCC commissioner, he continues to teach at the Ateneo Law School and Manuel L. Quezon School of Law. He is also a member of the Supreme Court Sub-Committee on Special Rules in Competition Cases. Commissioner Negre obtained his Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Accounting degree from the University of Sto. Tomas, his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University Law School, and a Master of IP degree from Pierce University in New Hampshire, USA. He attended a Post-Graduate Scholarship Program on IP at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center and at the Queen Mary IP Research Institute in London, UK. Recently, he completed a Post Graduate Diploma Program on Economics for Competition Law at King’s College London, attended the Competition Summer School at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium and the Competition Autumn School at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
